EWU BOOKSTORE ORDERING INFORMATION

Thank you for ordering from your University Bookstore! This document is meant to answer common questions about ordering through our website. If you don't see an answer to your question, don't hesitate to email us at the link and we'll respond immediately...and add it to this FAQ!

When you order for the first time you are asked to create an account. This information is shared with no one; it just allows you to access your account each time you order and not have to fill out all the shipping information each time. You'll be asked to create a password--this should NOT be your password you use for email, EagleNet, etc etc. This should be a unique password for JUST our site. Remember to write it down!

Our website uses a cart system generated by an outside source. It securely collects your order information and charges you when we verify we have the product to ship. Your information is very secure (we don't even see your credit card number here!), and as safe as any established e-commerce website on the internet.

WE SHIP FED EX.

If you provide a PO Box, we'll ship regular USPS mail which is NOT trackable and are not responsible for lost/late packages.
If you live in the immediate area (Spokane, Cheney, Medical Lake, etc) ordering Fex Ex 2nd Day will actually take LONGER to get your parcel. Most shipments to this area take a single day. Choose regular Fed Ex and get your package quicker!
Tracking information on your package is available by calling our Shipping Department at 509.359.2549.

TAX INFORMATION:

As of July 1, 2008, the State of Washington requires us to charge tax within the state based on the rate of the destination address.
  • If you live within the state or are shipping your parcel to someone in the state of Washington, we'll charge the current rate for that destination address.
  • If you live in any other state, you will not be charged sales tax.
  • Gift cards are not taxed.

ALASKA/HAWAII/INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:

If you are ordering from or shipping to an address outside the Continental US then your shipping cost will be higher. If you're ordering from Alaska or Hawaii please choose "Alaska/Hawaii" as your shipping method. If you're outside the US, choose "Non-US" and we will contact you via email within 2 business days with an estimate of shipping cost provided by the University's Mail Services. Their quote is exactly what we'll charge you when we ring your sale at the register, not the price the website automatically generates. When we get your approval, we'll ship out the merchandise.

A NOTE ABOUT GIFT CARDS


GIFT CARDS are an easy way to give a gift of EWU merchandise or textbooks without the hassle of remembering someone's sweatshirt size or class schedule. You can order Gift Cards here. They are available with a preset amount or as a "blank"--you fill in the exact amount you want and we load the card here. Keep in mind that Gift Cards are not taxed and we ship them to you via regular USPS mail (note that our website can't determine what is a gift card and what is not, and will try to charge you shipping and tax. We remove those charges before we process your order! Honest!). If the gift card is part of a larger order, we'll ship it with your merchandise of course. Gift Cards are not redeemable online.

 

MERCHANDISE ORDERING

From sweatshirts to hats, from keychains to mousepads, the EWU Bookstore has a great selection of merchandise for the Eastern community! Please keep a few things in mind when ordering:
  1. The website is not automatically updated when we sell or receive merchandise. Thus, it's possible, especially with clothing, that we can run out of a size or color on our sales floor before we have had a chance to update the website. For another example, a department might come into the store and buy 300 pairs of socks to hand out at an event, and it might take a day or two for the website to be updated to show we've been wiped out! We don't have a warehouse with more stock, and we can't order a single item to fill your order from a vendor (most vendors require large quantities in an order to ship to us).
  2. Your Daytime Phone Number is important. If we do happen to run into a problem with your order, we'll call you during our business hours to alert you to an out-of-stock item or a problem with your credit card. We can usually suggest an alternative item to send--the advantage of dealing with real people at the Bookstore, not an automated system!
  3. Sizing clothes is so much fun! Every manufacturer of EWU clothing has a different idea of what constitutes "small" and "Extra-Large"! Generally all clothing, shirts and sweatshirts in particular, are uni-sex, which means they are meant to fit women...and men! If it's listed as a women's piece, it's meant for a young college coed and is usually very small.
  4. You are responsible for your shipping information! If your shipping information is incorrect, and your parcel does not arrive, you're out of luck! Please review your order carefully before submitting it. We do not refund your order if you gave us incorrect information and your books are lost.
  5. Save, save, save your receipt! If by chance what you've ordered needs to be returned to us, send the item(s) and a COPY of your packing list and attached register receipt to us at the address at the top of the packing list and we'll take care of the rest. You can write a note on the packing list telling us what you'd like to do--return for a refund, exchange for a different size or color, or etc etc. Please keep the item in resellable form--don't wash that sweatshirt or let the cat sleep on it!

TEXTBOOK ORDERING:

You've made the right choice by ordering from your University Bookstore! Not only are you guaranteed the right book, the right edition and the convenience of either shipping right to you or holding them for pickup, but every dollar you spend at the University Bookstore contributes to defraying the cost of your--and all students'--education.
  1. If we don't have a textbook you've ordered, that title will be backordered. The books in stock will be charged and held or shipped for you immediately, usually within one business day. Often we receive late orders from professors and those titles don't come until the last minute--and sometimes after the first day of class! We only charge you for what we have. If we haven't got the book yet, we cancel that part of your order and you are not charged for it.
  2. Tell us what you prefer--new or used--and we'll do our best to get them for you! When you order you have a choice of preferring new or used copies of your textbooks, and if there's a used copy on the shelf we'll pull it for you! Keep in mind if your professor orders a new title we've never had before the chances of us getting used copies--particularly if it's a recently published title--is very small. If you ask for a used copy and all we received was new, we'll charge and send/hold a new copy. The important thing to us is that you get your textbook! Remember, renting textbooks is an option for just about every textbook we have!
  3. We strongly recommend you have your books held at the University Bookstore. Not only do you save on shipping charges, but that's one less thing you have to lug back to Cheney with you. If we hold your books, all you have to do is come in, ask for them and we'll run and get them--and so you can bypass any line at the registers! After a certain date close to the start of each quarter, we cut off shipping out textbooks and will only hold them in the store for you.
  4. If you provide a PO Box as your Ship To address, we are not responsible for it after it leaves the Bookstore. Keep in mind that all USPS shipments are NOT trackable and if they're lost, you're out of luck. Be smart--order FedEx! Signatures are not required for these shipments unless you request it, so they can be left on a porch or with a neighbor.
  5. You are responsible for your shipping information! If your shipping information is incorrect, and your parcel does not arrive, you're out of luck! Please review your order carefully before submitting it. We do not refund your order if you gave us incorrect information and your books are lost.
  6. Save, save, save your receipt! If by chance what you've ordered needs to be returned to us, send the item(s) and a COPY of your packing list and attached register receipt to us at the address at the top of the packing list and we'll take care of the rest. Please remember there are deadlines when returning textbooks for a full refund--we accept textbooks in the condition they were sold up to the end of the first week of each Quarter. After that date the books are considered yours and can be sold at Textbook Buyback, where you'll receive a percentage of the retail price based on current market needs.
  7. Rental textbooks! This means you pay substantially less for a textbook's use for the quarter, as long as you agree to the program's terms and most importantly return the book at the end of the Quarter for the next student to rent. Because a student identification card must be presented and a contract signed, currently textbook rental is only available as an in-store option. Any online orders for rental textbooks will not be filled.

MERCHANDISE RETURNS

  1. Make a copy of your packing list (included in your shipment box). On the copy, write what you want us to do--exchange your item for a different size, color or item, or refund you. Keep the item in new condition--please don't wash your clothing item and then return it; we have to put it back on the rack to sell!
  2. Mail the item(s) and packing list copy to us. Send it as cheaply as you can and somewhere on the box put "Attn: John" so that it goes right to the person responsible for internet sales. Our mailing address is on that packing list copy, but in case you don't have it, it's:

  3. When received, we'll do as you instruct. We'll trade your item for what you want, or refund you as quickly as possible. We get the exchange item in the mail by the next business day, usually. And if you requested a refund, your refund slip will be mailed to you ASAP. We only refund back to the account you originally bought the items on--we can't offer cash back or put it on another credit card.
